“Healing is not the resolution of our past; it is the use of our past to move us forward in our lives.” - Judith Herman
I believe that each one of us is on a life-long journey of self-discovery & that there is comfort and strength in walking our individual paths together. Whether you’re feeling lost, overwhelmed by daily activities, burdened by memories of past trauma, or facing other challenges to your mental health and overall wellbeing, my aim is to provide you with a safe & non-judgmental space for you to share your struggles, your fears, your lived experiences, yourself—and remind you that you are not alone.
My Approach
I prioritize building a relationship with you that supports your sense of safety, trust, and connection—establishing a strong and secure foundation for you to begin working towards your goals in therapy and in life. My counseling approach is integrative and trauma-informed, centering a humanistic approach and drawing from frameworks including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), polyvagal theory, attachment theory, internal family systems (IFS), inclusive-feminist theory, anti-oppression / liberation psychology, intergenerational trauma studies, queer theory, and narrative therapy.
It takes bravery and courage to seek help, especially in times of need. It is truly an honor to offer you my support as you begin (or continue) your counseling journey. My hope is that our work together will bring greater comfort, peace, and fulfillment to your life—as well as help you uncover your strengths, your resilience, your truth, and your most authentic self.
Art Therapy
As an art therapist, I feel strongly that creativity and art-making provides us with the unique opportunity to explore—and express—our thoughts, feelings, emotions, memories, experiences, dreams, etc. without words. I recognize that for some people art-making and creative activities may feel inherently uncomfortable or scary. Please know that you are not expected to have any artistic skill or creative experience to participate in art therapy! During our sessions, I may invite you to make art or participate in a creative process because I believe it will be helpful (and not harmful) for you to do so—however, you always have the right to say “no.” Art therapy is about the process of creating. Together, we will reflect on what the creative activity reveals to you and resist the temptation to “interpret” or find “meaning” in the final product. If you are curious about art therapy and want to know more, please let me know!
